This is a great example of entertain and inform. It is an animation, and for some may not be very entertaining, but the message is strong.

I wanted to put out there to let everyone know that this is the next subject I will be presenting.

The Most Influential book I have read

The 4 hour work week.

This is my most recent read. I don’t have enough time, and space to write enough about this book. It has some of the most unique insights I have ever read. Tim Ferris hasn’t just regurgitated classic business techniques and slapped a cover on a book. He has truly shown a path to a New Rich. By using places like Elance, and outsourcing project after project, he shows how he made an automated empire that he maintains off a mere 4 hours a week, making more money than most high paid professionals. This is done by a Dreamline Calculator

There are many places in the book that filled in blanks in my head to make a successful business on my own that stumped me. Needless to say I can’t wait to implement some muses.

Customers are getting far smarter than they used to be. They can Google you, and faster than you know it they can find everything they will ever need to know.

This is good right? Well what if you talk to a customer and they Google you, and they don’t find anything even though you have a site? Google can hurt you faster than you know. It can also help you in ways you have never imagined. Think of it like credit. Even bad credit can help you a little. Because someone somewhere trusted you enough to loan you money BUT, if you don’t have ANY credit… well you are dead in the water, and you need someones help to get a loan. Now if you have a website that isn’t giving you any credit then Google is hurting you way more than it is helping you. How many times have you searched for something on Google and you didn’t find EXACTLY what you wanted, but you got pretty close? That is what can be happening to your potential customers.

This is where being web 2.0 compliant comes into play. By taking and doing certain things and becoming web 2.0 compliant you will pop up on a social network. These are real people and boy do they talk. In fact that is all they do is talk.

Web 2.0 isn’t anything really different. It has just taken what we already have and looking at things slightly different. It is adding a more human element to the mix of the universe of the internet. Adding comments to a website, having a video at the introduction of your website that explains how awesome you are, a download-able mp3 that you recorded for people to listen to, and other things that make people FEEL like they are apart of something and not just another head in a herd of cattle being pushed through a processing plant.

I mean come on! You are a customer every day! Do you like it when you are ushered through a line that ticks by, and the employee behind the counter just stares at you like a booger on the wall? I DON’T! So why would YOUR customers?

Customers are getting smarter and smarter. The days of celebrities on TV telling them what to buy are over. There is no blind trust in those around us. YOU GOTTA PROVE IT! You have to be authority!

Here lies the other side of the sword, the part of web 2.0 that people DON’T talk about. Yea the traffic could be great. But can your business actually HANDLE being under an intense scrutinizing microscope 24/7/365?

By taking steps and slightly altering your site to becoming 2.0 compliant you allow yourself to be among the masses and really get to know your customers in a manageable way. You communicate only with those who want to communicate with you. You respond to all of them at one time, and you can even create or make changes to your product to entice your clients. This also brings them around to you way of thinking. As your sales letters, blog posts, and podcasts will be doing the majority of selling, by the time they get to the point where they are actually talking to you they already know more about your products and services than you do, and all you have to do is hand it to them. They snag it up and they are gone with a grin on their face bigger than the Titanic.

A simple introduction

Vita: life, way of life.

Vaco: to be free from work, of a master, of property.

VitaVaco: A way of life that will allow freedom from a master.

Coming from my mom, (The forty year veteran English teacher) “Write what you know.”

“You need to create a blog and start writing. I don’t care what you write about, just as long as you can write about it for a long time.” Suggests a friend of mine who knows a thing or two about internet marketing.

This is what I was told to do to start my internet empire. I now find this is the 4th time I have edited this introduction blog. In fact, the only thing that I have kept is my little haiku up at the top. I have been interested in blogging for some time now, and have felt I have had something to say to really contribute to a whole. So far, it is one of the things that I have felt some true fulfillment in my life.

I have been in business for myself in one form or another since I was fifteen. I loved the idea of being in control of my own destiny. Working for myself was the best way I knew to do that. By choosing this path, ten years later there are things that I learned that others haven’t had the chance of learning. I have had many friends and family members ask my opinion on how they should implement their businesses or business ideas. It surprised me to find that even though I haven’t made truckloads of money, and all of my big money making ideas had fizzled and died, my experience had value.

By taking these inherent risks and failing more times than I would like to admit I have proven… what ways DON’T work. This thinking sounded backwards to me at first, and still does. Why would anyone want to read what I have to say? But what is blogging about? Writing what you know. And the more you know about something the less frightening it is. I know failure like a good friend, and he isn’t such a bad guy. Failure knows the flack he gets, but someones got to do it. He keeps his chin up though. Failure is nothing more than a point on a gauge. Sadly he sits on the bottom part if the gauge, so by default, he isn’t as popular as his polar opposite everyone likes to talk about, success. I know success too, simply because of his friend. I know we will be able to hang out more when he gets the time.

Failure isn’t what I want to focus on writing about. I like to stay on the brighter side of things. But it offers a viewpoint I draw from.

I have tried nailing this down and giving a specific title, and description. Forcing a structure which my writing cannot follow. I don’t write about things I feel no passion for. Therefore, this blog by itself cannot have any specific direction. But, by doing so will take on a direction of it’s own.

So for readers who find this, I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I will.
